Family-Based Immigration

Family-based immigration opportunities are available if you have a qualifying family member, such as a spouse, child, parent or sibling, who is willing to petition for you. The family member must be a United States citizen, or permanent resident.

The availability of these opportunities depends primarily on whether the relative in the United States is a United States citizen, or a lawful permanent resident. Relatives of United States citizens or naturalized citizens generally can immigrate sooner than relatives of green card holders. The process also depends on the type of family relationship. Spouses and unmarried children can usually immigrate faster than any other relatives. Parents can immigrate quickly, too, but only if their child is a United States citizen and not just a green card holder. Brothers and sisters of United States citizens can also obtain permanent residency but the process is generally very slow and can take more than a decade.

Payam Yazdani and attorneys at Bloomfield & Kempf, LLP handle all immigration matters including family-based immigration. Call us today at 614-592-7827 or consultation.

Family-Based Visas

Other family based visas such as Fianc visas are available in special circumstances. In addition, a visitor visa can be obtained to visit family members in the United States.

US Consulates and National Visa Center handle and process visa applications. The application process is different for each type of application and can include providing affidavits of support, police records, birth certificates, marriage certificates, medical examination, pictures, and the visa application.
